PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY:

Mr. Barge's career in civil engineering began at Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon in 1976 where he steadily progressed to surveyor, technician and finally, a client manager in 1985. Dan Barge III was named a vice president in 1992. His assignments have varied from being a field engineer at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, a design engineer contracted to Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corporation during their plant construction and startup, and client/project manager on civil engineering efforts of the $36 million Nashville Thermal Transfer Corporation expansion in 1984.

In 1994, he and John Cauthen (also a former employee at Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon), left the firm to begin a consulting firm of their own: Barge Cauthen & Associates. Through their 17-plus years at Barge Waggoner, they developed a strong commitment to serving clients that is evidenced today by their clients’ repeat business.

Dan has managed projects for private sector clients over the last 30 years, which include the civil engineering designs for the development of the Hill Center in Green Hills, the Multi-Venue Athletic Fields at the University of Notre Dame, the recent completion of The Commons at Vanderbilt University, and numerous other notable projects. In addition, Dan has been the project designer or principal engineer involved with the expansion and development of various projects at Vanderbilt University for over 20 years.
